[Series Review] ARIA The ANIMATION / NATURAL / ORIGINATION (Anime)

Finally, Oni releases a totally new review! ARIA is a series that caught me. It’s so mellow and soothing that it’s any slice of life fan’s dream to watch such a series. It’s funny, cute, serious, deep and mysterious all at the same time. Life just goes by on the planet of Aqua as Akari, Aika and Alice all aim to become Prime Undines in their respective gondolier companies, Aria Company, Himeya and Orange Planet, located in the city of Neo-Venezia, a re-creation of Venice.

Nice review on a great anime, since you liked it i found some extra features about it in case you don’t know about. The first is a Special extra episode called 5.5 thats found on the DVD of Origination and its chronically staged between episode 5 and 6, hence the name. The second is the last Drama CD of Aria Perfect Guidebook called “The Fairies of Tomorrow”, which its basically is an entire extra episode on listenable form, chronigically put after the events of the final but not in the future.

  2. RedRocket4000 says:

If your familiar with Roddenberry’s vision for Star Trek, Aria is close to what life on a Federation planet at peace could be. A vision of when man has matured and mostly lost our negative ways leaving only the positive traits of humanity. And Aqua though showing the long loving terraforming you can imagine the society that would evolve by such dreamers and Utopians.

  3. RedRocket4000 says:

@iOniV2 Drat deleted original when I tried to remove add on. will attempt to redo

  4. RedRocket4000 says:

@iOniV2 Thanks and yes the mystical way they look back on the history was magical. And when the only scary thing that ever happens in Aqua happens, I knew from the prior stories the cats would never let anything bad occur. After all space time control pwns.

  5. iOniV2 says:

@RedRocket4000 Oh, that’s what I call a good comment. I hadn’t thought of that comparison.

And, speaking of the terraformation, the way they look back on the development of Aqua was simply exquisite.

  6. iOniV2 says:

No problem, glad I could be of help.

  7. iOniV2 says:

Despite this, though, the anime is still very faithful to the manga when it comes to the characters’ personalities and their interactions, as well as the keen detail.

  8. fourplusseven says:

Why not watch ‘em, that’s what they’re there for… cheers for sharing the knowledge, I appreciate it, you are a great ambassador for the medium.

  9. iOniV2 says:

Despite the Aria manga and anime having the same start and resolution, all the episodes between episodes 1 of The ANIMATION and Episode 13 of The ORIGINATION are different.

They wanted to make them different purposely, to give a different experience in both mediums. (Lol, yes, I do watch the interviews included on DVDs after I’ve finished a series).

  10. fourplusseven says:

    Thanks for the reply.

Do you also know if the manga of ‘Aria’ just recapitulates the story of the anime or is it a different story?

Sorry to bombard with questions but I’m ignorant on these matters!

  11. iOniV2 says:

    Maria-sama ga Miteru.

But the plot in that anime is a bit deeper.

  12. fourplusseven says:

Are there any other similar animes or is this kind of slow, pastoral slice-of-life thing where nothing much happens but it’s very beautiful — is this the only example?

  13. flyingkitkit says:

ARIA is the perfect anime, isn’t it? I like being able to watch whatever episode I want without having to worry about missing any of the plot, too. It’s more of a sitcom than anything, really.

  14. hilarioph says:

Well after all is a great anime. If this anime will air in the Philippines. We sure we like this anime

  15. iOniV2 says:

    Japanese dubbing with English subtitles.

Sorry, but an English dub doesn’t exist.

    It sucks, I know.

  16. hilarioph says:

Thanks. When i saw on amazon the online store, they sale the dvd of ARIA The ANIMATION. But are you sure on the dvd it was on engish dubing or on japanese?

  17. iOniV2 says:

Oh no, it’s completely different from Galaxy Angels.

  18. hilarioph says:

Because when i watch galaxy angels there are some comedic scene but some times they are little bit of drama
    on the series

  19. hilarioph says:

I think is not the same as in Galaxy angels right?

  20. iOniV2 says:

There are morals, there is no fighting, it’s very comedic and can be a tiny bit dramatic.

  21. hilarioph says:

On ARIA The ANIMATION there is no fight
scene? Are you sure is a comedy or drama?
But i like this series. But are you sure there is
some lesson on this anime series?

  22. swellowtan says:

I Love It ! Thx for share it =D <333

  23. iOniV2 says:

    Awesome, and thanks. ^^

  24. FireHazard001 says:

Ok, im convinced, I will definatly get this.

    Awesome review btw. :D

  25. iOniV2 says:

Well, to me the rating is just what I personally feel. After all, that is what being a reviewer is all about.

I use it as a way of tying my sections together in to one final score, if you get what I mean. Plus, I am a part of iSugoi, where every reviewer uses some kind of rating system.
