Marineland Stealth Pro Aquarium Heater Product Review
Posted on May 30, 2011 with Comments 25
Dual indicator light glows red when heater is on and green when temperature is ok. Constructed from shatter proof thermal plastic. Safety shut-off feature turns heater off automatically when out of the water then back on when re-submerged. Easy to use temperature dial accurate to +/- 1 degree. Fully submersible for both fresh and saltwater. Available in 25 to 300 watts and comes with strong suction cup clips for mounting. I give this product a 10 out of 10. The 50 watt unit is .99, 150 watt .99, and 250 watt .99. Figure 3-5 watts per gallon to get the correct watage for your tank.

this might sound silly but can you totally submerge the heater…ie the top and leads and everything??? your help would be greatly appreciated
All stealths and stealth pros have been officially recalled by Marineland and the CPSC. The only heater Marineland now sells is the Visitherm. Looks like the design of a plastic/epoxy tubed heater proved to be too unreliable for them. Its back to metal or glass. I do think the red/green LED was a pretty cool feature.
i got that one and ive had it for a few months and its broken already. it stopped working (heating). When i went to turn it up the dial was hard to turn and when i did turn it it starting smoking and getting really hot. i am so fed up with buying heaters, all of them break really fast.
Yeah i got a recall letter from petsmart…because it can explode
I have 3 of these heaters and they are no good. I rarely speak negatively of products but I’m very disappointed. I have two 50watt and one 250watt. Both of the 50watt heaters are way off in temperature. It is on 82F but the water is 76F with the green light on. These heaters are never correct. Also, I had to return my 250watt because in early 2011 I got an e-mail from the retailer saying it is dangerous. They gave me my money back and the heater is in the garbage. They don’t even want it back.
do u hav to submerse it
As of February 2011 United Pet Group issued a letter to my distributor stating “that we are currently investigating a potential quality issue with respect to certain products in the Stealth Pro Heater Line”. All sellers have been issued a “stop sale” of the following products: 100W, 150W, 200W, 250W, & 300W. The 10W, 25W, 50W & 75W models are not included in the “stop sale”. I want to make it clear this is not a recall only the government can issue a recall.
it’s a piece of crap-recalled the 100-150-200 watt units yesterday.
I got one of these today and it flashes from red to green but never stays one color for more than 10 seconds. Any ideas what that means?
Good video but those heaters are garbage!!!! I have went threw three of them in 6 months!!! After 3 months they would not heat up the water anymore. I exchanged them for new ones and they all did the same thing. Stay away from Marineland heaters!!!

i subbed so feel free to sub back!!
I got the 50 watt version for one of my 10 gallon tanks. The fish kept getting sick and the current heater allowed for no adjustment. Over 2 weeks, we worked the temperature up to 86 degrees F. No ich yet.
@YuckyLuckyDucky we have had 1 heater returned with the same problem. But this is out of hundreds sold.
hate the heater..had 2 already going to try a different one the older ones are good..one more thing the green light stayed on and the temp dropped like crazy killed 5 of my angelfish still deal..
I use this same heater and have had no issues at all out of it. Very nice product.
+1
@giantsroc234 hey just to give a bit more info on your question, it did get recalled, mine actually blew up in my tank, shattered in half. ive seen a few other ppl have the same problem and the heater blew up and actually broken the tank itself. lukly mine was going through a fishless cycle. and no harm was done, other than the heater itslef. las but most important, the safety switch does not work, the water level goes down and it continues to heat up.
I have the 250 watts stealth pro. It works awesome. Very accurate…Strangely after 4 months, only the green light worked. My fishes became very lethargic. Checked the temperature and what do you know. The temperature had dropped down WAY below what the temperature dial was set to. The heater failed. Even after I had unplugged the heater and plugged it back in, only the green color remain visible. The heater simply didn’t heat anymore, but it still tells me my freezing water is OKAY. Very sad.
How many gallons is that Biocube?
one question out of all the heaters honestly is this one the best? cause i bought 2 heaters and some dont need to have adjustment it goes up to its temperature by its self i bought 2 of them they didn’t work and then bought another one (with adjustable temperature) its not working either. have u ever had problems with your heater?

@giantsroc234 not that I am aware of. The previous model had a lot of issues. We have sold a lot of these and have yet to have a single return. I will look into it though.
i’ve heard this heater has been recalled is this true? Because i just bought it and was afraid it was going to burst
@fantailgoldfish the light is either red (when heating) or green (when temp is fine) and it is on all the time.
@BodAquatics Hi. I was thinking of buying the Stealth pro heater and I wanted to know if it is a good heater and does the light shine at night in the tank? Thanks
