I always wondered how that worked!

    No problem.
The whole tank build can be found in the marine fishkeeping section on the ‘practical fishkeeping forum’. The main thread is almost 300 pages long now, but there is a sticky’d shortened version at the top of the section which you may find useful.

Brilliant – very helpful – I’m a novice and in the process of going from fish only (marine setup with canister filter) to corals (building a sump) and you have answered so many of my questions! Thanks very much!

The video was made more to show how to protect against flooding in the event of a powercut. The water will cool as the heaters will also go off, but it will only drop down to room temperature. Also, on a system this size ( approx 800 ltrs ) it will take several hours for the temperature to drop by just a few degrees. If you know the power is going to be off for longer, then you may need to insulate the tank, or float bottles of warm water to keep the temperature up.
    Kind Regards
